The Sidama people are an ethnic Cushitic peoples traditionally inhabiting the Sidama Zone of the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples Region (SNNPR) in Ethiopia.  They speak the Sidamo language which is a language of the Cushitic branch of the Afroasiatic language family. Despite their large numbers they currently lack a separate ethnic regional state. The Sidama preserved their cultural heritage, including their traditional religion and language until the late 1880s during the conquest by Emperor Menelik II. Before this, the Sidama had their own well-established administrative systems that dated at least to the 9th century, though it was made up of a loose coalition of Sidama kingdoms. These kingdoms extended into the Gibe region.  As a result of marginalization and since the language does not have its own alphabet, very little has been written on Sidama issues. የሲዳማ ኤጄቶ አቋም መግለጫ  (መጋቢት 19 2011) የሲዳማ ብሄር በክልል የመደራጀት ጥያቄ በዞኑ ም/ቤት በሙሉ ድምጽ ጽድቆ በህገ መንግስቱ መሰረት በደብዳቤ መልክ ወደ ደቡብ ክልል ም/ቤት ተልኮ ተቀባይነት በማግኘቱ ለህዝበ ውሳኔ አፈጻጸም ወደ ም/ቦ ርድ መላኩ ይታወሳል። ይህ ከሆነ ወራቶች ተቆጥረዋል። እስከ ዛሬ ድረስ ቦርዱ አንዳች ህገ መግስትስዊ ምላሽ ለህዝባችን ጥያቄ አለመስጠቱ የቦርዱን፡ገለልተኛነት በጥርጣሬ፡ውስጥ እያስገባ ከመሆኑ ባሻገር የህዝቦች ጥያቄ ህገ መንግስታዊ በሆነ መልኩ ምላሽ እንዲያገኝ የሚያስችል ፖለቲካዊ ለውጥ አድርጌያለው እያለ ያለው መንግስት ከህዝባችን ጥያቄ ጎን ከመሰለፍ ይልቅ የህዝበ ውሳኔው ግዜ ኢ ህገ መንግስታዊ እና ጸረ ዴሞክራሲያዊ በሆኑ ተራ ምክንያቶች ይፋ እንዳይደረግ ጥረቶችን እያደረገ ይገኛል። በዚህ ምክንያት የሲዳማ ኤጄቶ የተለያዩ ሀገር በቀል የትግል ፡ስልቶችን ታክቲኮችን በመጠቀም የህዝብ ድምጽ እንዲሰማ፡ከፍተኛ ጥረት ሲያደርግ ቆይቷል። እስካሁን ድረስ ሀገርን ያስደመሙ ሁለት ታላላቅ ጋዶችን የፈጸምን ሲሆን በዚህም የህዝባችንን ድምጽ በበቂ መልኩ ማሰማት ተችሏል። ያም ሆነ የሚመለከተው አካል አሁንም ለህዝባችን ጩኽት ጆሮ ባለ መስጠት ጥያቄያችንን ችላ ማለቱን እያሳበቀ ይገኛል። በመሆኑምይ የሪፈረንደም ቀን ሳይገለጽ በዚህ መልኩ በቆየ ቁጥር በሀገር ደረጃም ይሁን በአከባቢያችን ሊፈጥር የሚችለው፡ማህበራዊ ኢኮኖሚያዊ እና ፖለቲካዊ ቀውስ አደገኛ በመሆኑ መንግስት አስቸኳ ምላሽ እንዲሰጥ እንጠይቃለን። መንግስትም ይሁን ምርጫ ቦርዱ በንዲህ ያለ ቸልተኝነት የሚቀጥል ከሆነ ኤጄቶ በቅርቡ 3ኛውን ጋዶ ለማወጅ ዝግጅቱን እንደጨረሰ ለማሳወቅ እንወዳለን። ይህ በንዲህ እንዳለ ላለፉት በርካታ አመታት የህዝባችንን

Introduction:   Ethnicity is a socially constructed category that has a shared cultural heritage, language, history. As defined by OkwudibaNnoli (1978:5), Ethnicity is “Social phenomenon associated with the identity of members of the largest possible competing communal groups (ethnic groups) seeking to protect and advance their interest in a political system. According to Pro Alemayehu Regassa, Vice President for Research and Technology Transfer, the office has been doing a lot in achieving its strategic goals in conducting problem solving researches. And the idea of promoting and encouraging thematic research projects is started recently. The main objective for conducting thematic researches is when researches are conduct in teams; researchers can share different theoretical and practical experiences. It was also a problem in the previous years because senior researchers were doing and publishing alone, hence thematic researches are also meant to establish a mentorship practice between senior and junior researchers. It is also important to deal with the problem of the community by using multi-disciplinary approaches through thematic research projects. Source
